This report provides insights into local people’s views on, and experiences with, health and social care services in Surrey Heath. It is based on what people have told us at a series of engagement events in the area, as well as enquiries to our Helpdesk

Our latest Insight bulletin highlights the key themes we’ve heard throughout Februaury 2024 as well as providing information about how we share our insight and our future engagement sessions.

This report highlights our major impacts throughout the third quarter of 2023/24 (October to December 2023). It focusses on our priority areas including information and signposting, access to primary care, mental health, social care, involvement of people and tackling health inequalities.

This report analyses the feedback we have received from across Surrey – via our Helpdesk or website or from our community engagements – relating to the online journey into general practice. We have been particularly interested in the usability and accessibility of GP practice websites and to what extent this is in line with the guidance produced by NHS England in their Delivery Plan for Recovering Access to Primary Care.

Our Enter and View visits to care homes are one way we can gather information about services and collect views of service users, their carers and relatives, as well as staff. Following our visits we make recommendations to the service provider based on the feedback we have received.

This report looks in depth at the Independent Health Complaints Advocacy service and shares our findings to suggest best practice relating to complaints, including recommendations and suggested opportunities for further learning.

The number of people waiting for hospital appointments or treatment has been growing since 2009, and the pandemic has resulted in many more people having their operations, treatment and appointments cancelled or delayed. In Surrey approximately 100,000 people are currently waiting for hospital treatment and this figure is not expected to start falling until 2024. Healthwatch Surrey ran this research to provide insight that will enable services to support those waiting and minimise the harm of long waits.
