Weight management
In 2022 45% of adults were trying to lose weight. The decision by the NHS to roll out access to the diabetes drug tirzepatide (also known by its brand name, Mounjaro) for weight loss was welcomed by many who find this a challenge. Initially it could only be obtained via specialist weight management services, but - from June 2025 - it became available via NHS GPs for up to 220,000 patients in the first three years of a 12-year roll-out. Healthwatch England have recently reported on what people have been telling them about the drug, concluding that – though it can be transformative – access to Mounjaro remains a real issue.
Is access a problem here in Surrey too? We’d love to hear from those who have taken it, those would like to but can’t, and all those who are or have tried to lose weight through other means – what works, what doesn’t, what support have you had (and what more would you like)? This can be done via our current weight management online survey or please get in touch with our Helpdesk if you need a paper copy, or would prefer to share your experience in your own words.
