Job title: Business Development Officer

Location: Guildford, Surrey

Salary: £26,000 per annum FTE (pro rata for part time 22.5 hours) 1 Year FTC

Accountable to: Chief Operating Officer

Working hours: 22.5 hours a week

Healthwatch Surrey is an independent champion that gives the people of Surrey a voice to improve, shape and get the best from health and social care services by empowering local people and communities. We are looking for an outgoing, persuasive and energetic individual to grow all aspects of our new business.


The Business Development Officer is a key commercial role, essential to the future success and sustainability of Healthwatch Surrey. As the successful candidate you will take the lead in identifying new business opportunities, in line with our strategy to ensure people are at the centre of the services they receive, and their voices are heard. You will develop proposals, pitch and win business. You will co-ordinate the delivery of projects for clients, working closely with the rest of our team.


The Business Development Officer will demonstrate:

 – experience of winning and managing new business

– a confident but sensitive selling style, with experience in following up on prospects and identifying new business leads to expand the business

– a positive, can-do attitude

– strong presentation and written skills

 – experience in the health and social care sector (desirable not essential).

Some travel within Surrey will be required, therefore a full clean driving licence and use of a car is highly desirable. This is a part time role for 22.5 hours per week, this is a new role 1 year fixed term contract, with possibility of renewal. We are flexible about hours and days and some home working will be required.
