Healthwatch Surrey – utilising resident insights to support our system partners

15th May 2025

At Healthwatch Surrey we provide information and signposting to local residents to support them to get the help they need.

But did you know that we also support our system partners? The personal insights local people share with us are invaluable for shining a light on what is and isn’t working and where improvements can be made.

Following feedback from residents, we have been working with a number of local GP practices to recommend ways in which they can work more effectively with patients, families and carers. We have provided specific input around how best to communicate about a proposed merger, as well as changes to a general practice delivery model (which we also supported with the development of a FAQ for patients).

Whilst we can provide bespoke support – tailored to the individual provider, patient population and issue – we have also produced a series of more general guides which are all available on the resources for partners section of our website.

  • NEW! How to support patients during GP closures and mergers: a guide for GP practices (developed in conjunction with our Healthwatch colleagues in Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex and Brighton & Hove).
  • Engaging with patients: a dos and don’ts guide for GP practices
  • Holding to account Toolkit – a guide for local Healthwatch

Please get in touch for more information on any of the services we offer or how we could support you.
