Healthwatch Surrey hears about Safe Havens from service users

During 7 visits to Surrey Safe Havens, Healthwatch Surrey learnt that 54% of people discharged from inpatient mental health facilities did not have a discharge plan in place

76% of users we spoke to visited their local Safe Haven once a week or more

4/5 people had positive things to say about their local Safe Haven,

“I’d be dead if Safe Haven wasn’t here. There’s so few things around to help people with mental illness and Safe Havens are extremely unique. I had a rough period last year when I lost my job- Safe Haven Aldershot was keeping the lights on for me for a few months. I would have killed myself had I not been able to come here. The Safe Haven staff are non- judgemental, helpful, loving, compassionate and what is said here is kept confidential by other users

Watch out for Healthwatch Surrey’s Safe Haven report to be published in March 2017.
